DANA L. STRINGER is a playwright, poet, screenwriter, teaching artist, and writing instructor. Dana holds a Masters of Fine Arts in Creative Writing from Antioch University Los Angeles and a Bachelors of Arts from Morehead State University. Her work is concerned with themes of identity — racial, gender, sexual, religious, cultural, and social — through a Southern lens. Her work has garnered a reputation for tackling some of the most controversial and critical issues, while centering and humanizing characters who have been historically ‘othered’. Overall, Dana's mission is
to create work that promotes understanding, empathy, and healing, by way of the arts, while
educating, entertaining, and empowering others.
TEACHING ARTIST
Dana has served as an instructional facilitator and adjuncty faculty member in the Inspiration to Publication Program at Antioch University Los Angeles. She is a lead instructor for the Rythmn & Revision workshop, a partnership between Theatrical Outfit and the Boys and Girls Club of Metro Atlanta that exposes youth to dramatic writing, poetry, and spoken word.
Dana has also served as workshop facilitator for Hush Harbor Lab's Djali Playwriting Workshop for Black, Atlanta-based playwrights developing new plays. She has served at WriteGirl, a nonprofit creative writing and mentorship organization.
